One of my proudest achievements this year has been taking the leap to focus on young riders and their ponies. I absolutely adore capturing these fleeting, heart-warming moments — children simply being themselves with their beloved ponies.
But recently, a conversation with a client reminded me of something just as important: the people behind the scenes. The moms. The parents. The support system that makes the pony dream possible.
Behind Every Pony-Loving Child Is a Devoted Parent
Behind every young rider is a parent or family friend, making sure everything runs smoothly. From early morning feeds to weekend competitions, you are there. You are the emotional rock, the logistics manager, the cheerleader, the photographer, and sometimes even the groom.
And yet, it can feel like no matter how much we give, it’s never quite enough.
We are told we work too much. Or not enough. That we should put our children first — but also that we can't pour from an empty cup. It’s exhausting, and somewhere along the way, we forget to make space for ourselves.
Your Equestrian Photoshoot Is for You, Too
I always tell my clients: your photoshoot is more than just taking beautiful images — it’s protected time for you to connect with your pony. With yourself. No school work, no rushing, no multitasking. Just being.
But what about the support team? What about the you?
A client recently told me something that really stuck. When I asked if she wanted to include her children in her session, she smiled gently and said, “No, thank you. My horses are my thing — away from everything else.”
That moment hit me hard. My photography is my thing, too. It’s what fills my cup. And for her, horses are that same source of peace — a sanctuary away from the noise of motherhood, work, and life.
Your Shoot, Your Way
Whether you are:
Booking a shoot for your child and their pony, and want a quiet moment with your partner to remember who you are outside of being parents,
Or needing a shoot that’s just for you, to celebrate your achievements and reclaim your space —
I see you. I hear you. And I’m here to make that vision come to life.
Because you matter, too.
